Craig joined Charter Realty in 2023 to spearhead the growth of the company’s third-party landlord and tenant representation brokerage business throughout the State of Montana and surrounding Mountain West markets. In addition to his responsibilities at Charter, Craig operates a complimentary business providing asset management services to shopping center owners with a focus on lease negotiation and related project management.
Previously, Craig spent 20 years at Sterling Organization (“Sterling”), a vertically integrated private equity real estate fund manager with approximately $2bln of assets under management and over 65 retail assets comprising over 12mm square feet throughout the United States. While at Sterling, Craig gained direct experience in all aspects of commercial real estate investment, finance, management, accounting and construction. Craig held various roles during his tenure at Sterling, most notably spending seven (7) years managing Sterling’s lease and lease administration departments.
Throughout his career, Craig has negotiated hundreds of leases comprising over 3mm square feet of space with national and regional retailers, in many instances in connection with ground up development and/or large-scale property redevelopments. Representative transactions include 45 leases comprising over 1mm square feet with the following tenants: Burlington, TJX Companies, Ross Stores, Sprouts, Five Below, Ulta, Hobby Lobby, Cub Foods, Amazon Fresh, Aldi, Best Buy, Dollar Tree, Chick Fil A, Raising Cane’s, Chase Bank and Aspen Dental.
In addition to direct retailer relationships, Craig has cultivated a nationwide network within the retail brokerage and ownership community. This provides Craig with ongoing access to on-the-ground market intelligence throughout the country.
Originally from Minneapolis, Craig is pleased to call Montana home, where he enjoys skiing, biking, hiking and golfing with his wife and three children. Craig graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Minnesota.
